About
Us
Originally founded in Bavaria in 1833, the
Congregation of the School Sisters of Notre Dame is
now worldwide. Today, over 4400 SSNDs serve in thirty-four nations
on five continents. One of eight North
American provinces, the Dallas Province was formed in
1961 to be present and offer leadership in the south and southwest.
There are 157 sisters
in the Dallas Province. |

Geographically,
the Province focuses its ministry in the United States in Arkansas,
Arizona, Texas, Mississippi, and Louisiana although we do have sisters
serving in Illinois, Iowa, and Missouri. Overseas, we minister in
Ghana, West Africa, Guatemala and Honduras. The Provincial House is
located in Dallas, Texas. The Formation House is located in San Antonio,
Texas. St. Mary of the Pines Retirement Community and St. Mary of
the Pines Retreat Center are located in Chatawa, Mississippi.
School Sisters of Notre Dame in the Dallas Province minister in elementary
and secondary schools, colleges, universities, schools for the mentally
disabled, early childhood education centers, hospitals, prisons and
detention centers, parishes and diocesan offices, as well as literacy
and adult education programs. More. .
