Call
to Solidarity
We, the members of the 22nd General Chapter, together
with School Sisters of Notre Dame throughout the world, embrace
a new moment in our history as an international congregation. Called
to solidarity with all Creation, we are ready, personally and communally,
to risk all we are and all we have for the sake of the mission of
Jesus Christ.
Grounded firmly in You Are Sent and in our Call to Transformation
of the 21st General Chapter, we claim in a new way our internationality,
our ministry of education for the transformation of the world, and
Eucharist as the center of our lives.
- Internationality
We recognize in our internationality new potential for acting
interdependently among ourselves and with all Creation. Cherishing
our unity which is at the heart of solidarity, we are open to
reconfiguration within the congregation for the sake of the mission.
We hold all in common – giving, receiving, and choosing
what is best for the whole. Diverse in cultures yet united in
mission, we make decisions for the common good.
- Education that Transforms
We are convinced anew that education is our response to the cries
of Creation, the concrete expression of our solidarity with all.
Therefore, we promote education for all, especially those who
are marginalized and forgotten. Wherever possible, we link our
ministries across the world. We collaborate with others on all
levels, sharing our charism and spirituality. Together we carry
our mission into the future.
- Eucharist
We celebrate Eucharist and live it authentically. Cosmic in dimension,
Eucharist transforms us, calling us again and again to reconciliation
and solidarity among ourselves and with all Creation. United with
the self-gift of Christ to God in the Holy Spirit, we are ready
to lay down our lives to be bread that is blessed, broken and
shared for the life of the world.
With jubilee in our hearts, we gratefully commit to act together
in response to this call to solidarity.
