  Sister Mary Louise (Mary Blase) Kirsch

Sister Mary Louise (Mary Blase) Kirsch passed away November 11. Born January 26, 1911 in New Orleans, LA, Sister Mary Louise entered the School Sisters of Notre Dame from her home parish of St. Mary in New Orleans, La., in 1931.

Sister Mary Louise spent her 75 years as a religious in community service for SSND sponsored ministries and communities in
 

Illinois, Louisiana, Texas, Missouri, and Iowa. Although officially retired in 1981, for the past twenty-six years she has been part of the St. Mary of the Pines Retirement Community, Chatawa, Miss., continuing ministry through hospitality, prayer, and presence.

  Sister Alvin Marie Hagan

S. Alvin Marie (Shirley Josephine)
Hagan passed away October 10.
Born April 22, 1933 in Hannibal, MO,
she professed her vows in 1953 along with her twin sister Gertrude Marie.

S . Alvin Marie’s first ministry assignment was as a teacher at St. Mary’s Special School in St. Louis,
MO. In 1969, after sixteen years at
St. Mary’s, she headed south for what would become thirty-one years of community service for the Dallas Province - in New Orleans, LA, at St. Mary of the Pines in Chatawa, MS,
 

and at the Dallas Motherhouse in Irving, TX.

Officially retired in 2000, S. Alvin Marie continued to serve the SSND
community through prayer and presence.
